The Wilkes are Freenote's more modern take to a classic cowboy cut jean. With a high rise, comfortable thigh, and very slight taper to a leg opening big enough to fit a pair of boots under, they're an excellent cowboy twist on a classic tapered fit. The double flat felled seams on each leg add strength and longevity to the pants, while still maintaining the selvedge detail on the outseam.
The Aces High black denim is a 100% cotton Japanese selvedge with an all-black finish that clocks at about 14.5oz. Woven for Freenote at Kaihara Mills in Japan, it's a slow-fading fabric, with a more tightly-woven and uniform face. The denim is fairly stiff at first, but will quickly break in, softening and taking the shape of the wearer's body.
A special release means special hardware, and the Aces High set didn't miss the memo there. Featuring shiny brass rivets, buttons, and a YKK fly zipper, it's a very subdued way to make things pop a bit more, and the exposed brass will patina alongside the denim. Everything else is what you'd expect, from the 1/8" double-needle stitching, to the full grain leather Freenote flasher, and custom woven labels.
Fits true to size. Minimal shrinkage expected with a cold wash and hang dry.
