Moving from Nashville to Pensacola for the 1996-97 season, the new Ice Pilots took their nickname as a
tribute to the long history of Naval aviation in Pensacola, which is
home to the legendary Blue Angels
and the Museum of Naval Aviation. The team folded in 2008.
