Product Description

The John Lofgren Bootmaker M-43 Service Shoes take inspiration from military footwear, featuring the patented Munson last for a comfortable fit. Crafted in Japan from premium Shinki Hikaku horsebutt leather, these boots offer durability and aesthetic appeal. With Goodyear welt construction and Vibram soles, they’re built for lasting wear. The design combines traditional craftsmanship with modern style, making them ideal for both everyday use and special occasions. From the brand: John Lofgren uses Dr. Edward Munson's traditional military last, specially designed for U.S. Military  Service Boots in 1912. Dr. Munson studied the feet of thousands of soldiers over roughly half a decade in order to develop a supremely comfortable and rugged last that fits virtually all foot shapes, and would allow soldiers to perform their duties in WWII. The Munson last runs large, we recommend sizing down one half size from your standard Brannock measurement. John Lofgren Bootmaker M-43 Service Shoes are not simple reproductions of WWII U.S. Army service shoes. Not just another boondocker. They are a modern-day piece de resistance of footwear, carefully designed to meet the needs of contemporary life, but still look very classic, down to the distinctive Munson last shape. The Munson last was patented in 1912 by U.S. Army doctor, Edward Munson. Dr. Munson perfected his last after studying the feet of more than two thousand soldiers. JLB M-43 Service Shoes, like all John Lofgren Bootmaker footwear, are totally built in Japan with master craftsmanship in all details. The horsebutt leather was developed by Shinki Hikaku tannery in Japan. This company specializes in horsehide leather tanning and is considered one of the best, if not the best, tanneries in the world. The horsebutt will feel a bit stiff in the beginning but soon will relax and form around your foot. The leather is visually stunning with always an interesting grain to admire.
