Pittsburgh Pirates 1970 Wool Shawl Collar Sweater
Product Description
Experience authentic vintage style with this replica on-field baseball cardigan inspired by the iconic Pirates sweaters of the early 20th century. Crafted from a luxurious alpaca/wool blend, it features thick buttons and a stitched felt chest emblem, echoing the craftsmanship of the past. This garment is perfect for chilly off-season days, cozy evenings by the fire, and those crisp early Spring Training games. Celebrate baseball history in comfort and style. From the brand: REPLICA ON-FIELD BASEBALL SWEATERS JUST LIKE HOW THEY WORE IT History: Many do not realize that the Pirates did not adopt the traditional black-and-gold Pittsburgh color scheme until 1948 (the team had worn blue-and-red variations previously). Although often finishing in the second tier of the NL standings, the Forbes Field faithful were rewarded in 1960, when a walk off home run in Game 7 of the World Series shocked the New York Yankees and gave the Bucs their first World Championship since 1925. When we released our first collection of shawl-collar MLB sweaters, we were delighted with the response. Of course, one common reaction was “Where’s my team?” Of course, as the shawl collar sweaters were worn on-field only into the early 1930s, our original selections were limited to the original sixteen clubs. But what if newer teams wore these sweaters? We created new designs to include expansion teams like the New York Mets and Los Angeles Angels, relocated teams like the Oakland Athletics and Baltimore Orioles, and updates to original teams like the Cubs and Giants. These alpaca/wool blend sweaters are made to the same exacting specifications as the ones from the early 20th century. They feature thick buttons and sewn felt chest emblems. Perfect for that off-season cold weather, sitting by the fireplace, and those early Spring Training games.
