The Concept X introduces a new version of the spring-based technology that first propelled athletes higher and was banned by the NBA; Load ‘N Launch® Carbon 10. For the first time ever, APL has used a full-length carbon fiber plate that acts as a springboard to efficiently transfer energy with every step. Beneath the carbon plate sits a larger device with 10, larger coil springs strategically positioned throughout the forefoot. Each piece is tuned to work in conjunction with one another to provide ultimate energy return and enhanced elevation. A newly developed APL FutureFoam™ midsole that is lighter and provides more rebound encases the device to offer a soft and responsive cushioning to help you land softly. The outsole features a high traction clear rubber compound that puts the entire Load ‘N Launch® Carbon 10 device on display. To further reduce weight, the heel area of the outsole is carved out exposing the carbon fiber plate.
The Upper of the Concept X also debuts a number of new technologies. A full-length stretch TechLoom bootie is supported by APL Exolock overlays. APL Exolock technology uses various embroidery techniques, thread materials, and cord to create components that offer enhanced support, while maintaining low weight. APL Exolock can be tuned in limitless ways to provide the right amount of support, lockdown, and breathability exactly where you need it.
