Tailor Toyo TT15809-119 Mid 1950s Style Quilted Souvenir Jacket “Stencil Paint” 60th Anniversary Special Edition - “Tiger Head” × “Eagle”
Product Description
Celebrating Toyo's 60th anniversary, this exquisite jacket is a modern nod to 1950s souvenir jackets. Crafted from plush cotton velveteen, featuring meticulously embroidered tiger motifs, it offers a unique blend of nostalgia and artistry. Reversible, one side showcases diamond quilted satin with an embroidered eagle and pine tree. The attention to detail extends to the wool rib knit cuffs and hem, ensuring both style and comfort in its vintage-inspired design. From the brand: Specially produced to commemorate Toyo's 60th anniversary, this jacket is a meticulous reproduction of an early 50's souvenir jacket, also known as sukajan, from the storied brand's archive. The tigers head on the exterior of jacket combines embroidery and stenciling, an exceedingly rare combination on vintage examples. The fabric on the outside is a plush cotton velveteen, with the embroidery executed by skilled artisans. The jacket is reversible, the other face made from a vintage inspired diamond quilted satin, with an embroidered eagle and pine tree graphic. True to the original in the most granular details, the density of the satin fabric has been carefully adjusted to match the source material and the wool rib knit on the cuffs and hem are knit on an old-school flatknit machine. The jacket bears the label for Kosho Shokai, the predecessor of Tailor Toyo, in celebration of the brand's anniversary. In the mid 20th century Kosho Shokai produced as much as 90% of the souvenir jackets coming out of Japan.
