From the brand: W'Menswear was founded by Lauren Yates in 2015, born out of a desire to produce high quality, heritage-inspired garments for women - with a nuanced and ever-evolving perspective on femininity at the intersections of fashion, workwear, military garments, and history. Originally operating out of a converting shipping container in Bangkok, the brand has grown substantially with each new collection, employing specialty and custom fabrics as well as partnering with local workshops & artisans.
Introducing the new Spring/Summer '24 Collection: Pawai Paratroopers - a celebration of Thailand's first group of female paratroopers, whose motto was "to prove that women can do anything as well as a man, no matter what affair. Whatever the task, be it on land, in water, or in the air." (Paratrooper Ampai Sombat, Freedom Magazine 1961). Through their action, these women became cultural figureheads of radical change during the 1960s, inspiring new attitudes towards women and social progress throughout Thailand.
The Maggie Pants are named for Margaret "Maggie" Gee, a physicist and pilot - and one of the only two Chinese-American women to fly as a Women's Airforce Service Pilot (WASP) in WWII. They're a W'Menswear take on the iconic Monkey Pant, featuring a pleated front and an exaggerated taper, but omitting the usual seat pocket for a cleaner silhouette. More suited for civilian life than any battlefield they've got a slightly more shaped and flattering fit that the original US military trousers, as well as a slightly cropped leg.
They're made from a 100% cotton Japanese high thread count twill in a warm olive finish. Lightweight and breathable, they feature an excellent drape, and are immediately soft and broken-in from the moment you put them on.
