No longer called Wide Awake, ELBECO are still around today and still manufacturing uniform shirts, with over 100 years of history and experience.
The made-in-Japan version features a classic fit, with a comfortable body and a curved hem that wears well tucked-in. It's got a regular collar, with two open chest pockets (one of which features a pen slot), and a tonal (dyed) nut button placket.
It's made from a 21x21 sulfur-dyed selvedge stripe fabric, with an irregular weave and subtle textural quirks throughout. It comes completely raw and unwashed, cut large and starched for stiffness — after the first couple washes, the fabric will shrink to size, so check our measurements before ordering, and don't panic if your usual size feels too big before you wash it. Over time, the fabric will fade, softening and changing from sunlight, wear, and washes.
