These work great as base layer thermals as a replacement for a t-shirt, and as such the heat retention capabilities are at their best, though they can also be worn a bit looser to allow room for a tee underneath, like a regular sweater. D'Artisan's original cotton thermal fabric has a higher thread count, thicker weave, and stiffer finish that will break in, and as such the fabric itself is strong and durable with improved heat retention.
