Arguably the pinnacle of leather and the result of Horween’s 100+ years of expertise, shell is a notoriously particular leather made from a small, specific piece of horsehide. The shells undergo lengthy veg-tan and hot-stuff processes, after which highly-skilled artisans curry, shave, and dye the shells, all by hand. The end result is very durable, with beautiful deep tones and a glossy aniline finish, and is exactly why shell is prized so highly by bootmakers and collectors alike, having long since established itself as the ideal choice for fine shoemaking. As these wear, the colour will improve and deepen with time, while the dense nature of the membrane will end up creating attractive “rolls” where many other leathers would crease.
White’s MP Sherman is inspired by American WWII Infantry Boots, offering the sort of serious durability one expects from a military-type boot, featuring a White’s upper and cap toe that invoke a traditional field boot, without straying from the recognizable shape of a military boot. Built by hand using White’s traditional resoleable handsewn stitchdown construction, these boots offer a rare old-world quality that is sadly seldom seen in the 21st century. Available in either Black or Brown Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan, these MP Boots feature 6” heights, structured toes, black Dainite soles and heels, high quality leather midsoles, and stamped Brooklyn logos on the tongue. The black shell is paired with gunmetal eyelets, while the brown is paired with oxidized copper hardware.
