After the raffia tape is stitched into shape, the hat is dunked into a bucket of water, soaked overnight, and then molded and pressed. Once dried, it becomes soft and pliable, with striations of color that are unique to each hat. The Chewing Gum is ideal for traveling—it can take endless abuse without losing its nonchalant charm. Floppy and unstructured, the hat tends to fit loosely.
