Product Description
This beautifully crafted tote bag showcases the intricate artistry of traditional bilum weaving. Made from natural fibers sourced from local vegetation, it features vibrant patterns enhanced by natural dyes. Each bag reflects the skill of artisan weavers like Lina Singu, combining cultural heritage with functional design. Perfect for daily use or as a statement piece, this tote bag not only elevates any outfit but also supports sustainable practices and artisan livelihoods. From the brand: The natural fibres are sourced from surrounding vegetation including the Sisal and Pandanus plant, laboriously beaten, twisted into string and then woven. Weavers expertly utilise natural dyes made from plants, ochres and berries to enhance their patterns. Artisan weaver Lina Singu is a successful bilum weaver and matriarch to her clan. She is from the Sepik River and has one son who has completed his university in engineering. From the income she earns from bilum, Lina has bought land and built a house with electricity. She is a highly creative weaver and wants to open an arts and crafts shop.
