Kristen Ottea began practicing taxidermy 14 years ago at her father’s taxidermy shop in San Antonio, Texas. Before she started in taxidermy, Kristen spent six years modeling professionally around the world. Her father opened Ottea Taxidermy in 1975 and retired eight years ago, at which point Kristen took over the shop.
She loves taxidermy because it allows her to bring people’s memories back to life and she also deeply appreciates its artistic side of the trade. As an avid outdoors enthusiast, Kristen considers it her favorite place to be when she's not working. Far from being a stereotypical “girly girl,” she feels that taxidermy is a perfect fit for her. Kristen is a huge Nine Line supporter and loves to help spread the word about or brand and mission.
