The grid construction of the fabric allows for incredible breathability that regulates the start-stop cycle in the backcountry better than anything else we've tried. The air pockets provide warmth when you're idle but breathe well when you're going up. And all of this performance weighs about as much as a standard t-shirt and compresses well so you can squeeze it in a small or full pack if you do take it off.
