Rather than simply reproducing the look, ROTOTO rebuilds the style using thick cotton blend yarn and specialized Japanese knitting machinery, creating a sock with considerably more texture and substance than a conventional athletic crew sock. The body is knitted from a low-count cotton blend that gives the ribbing its pronounced, slightly rugged appearance and firm stretch. ROTOTO uses specialized machinery that has become increasingly uncommon, allowing the heavier yarn to be worked into the coarse rib structure that defines the R1255. Underfoot, a long pile knit creates a soft, springy layer of cushioning that makes the sock comfortable for extended periods of walking or standing. The Black colour gives the R1255 a cleaner, more understated appearance than the striped colour combinations while allowing the coarse ribbing to remain the focus. It works naturally with indigo denim, black jeans, fatigues and workwear footwear, making it one of the easiest versions of the R1255 to wear regularly.
