i pre-wash these after making them to remove the starch and give them a bit more relaxed, drapey, worn-in feeling.
the jeans have the same cut as the flat front trousers, i.e. roomy in the legs but not too wide, more like a straight-wide.
they're meant to be worn a little slouched, about 2 inches or so beneath the belly button, so if you're unsure about sizing, measure your waist at that spot (with a soft, flexible tape measure pulled taut against the skin) and choose the size closest to that measurement.
