Lot. 716 Damaged Coverall w/ Chinstrap - Damaged Indigo
Product Description
A meticulously crafted coverall jacket inspired by designs from the 1920s and 1930s. This piece showcases a unique chinstrap and advanced sewing techniques that combine timeless style with contemporary functionality. Constructed from original 9oz denim featuring green-cast indigo-dyed warp yarns, it offers a rich texture and vintage color tone. The uncoated iron buttons and buckle add to its character, promising to develop an aged beauty over time. From the brand: A thorough study was conducted on coverall jackets from the 1920s to 1930s, featuring the distinctive chinstrap design. As clothing at the time was still in an experimental phase, many construction details are difficult to reproduce today without exceptional sewing skills. Among the rare pieces studied was one constructed with a pattern that joins the shoulder seam and sleeve cap with one continuous stitch—an efficient but highly advanced technique. The curved armhole seams were also carefully replicated based on the original. The fabric is a newly developed original 9oz denim, created through analysis of vintage denim from the era. It features green-cast indigo-dyed warp yarns conceived by Taiga Takahashi himself, combined with undyed, natural-toned weft yarns. While preserving the vintage color tone, the yarn count and density were carefully adjusted, resulting in a rich texture distinct from standard left-hand twill denim, thanks to its 1/2 right-hand twill weave. The buttons and buckle, marked with original engravings, are all made of iron, which is uncoated to produce aged beauty over time. 100% Cotton Made in Japan
