Product Description

These straight-leg jeans blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary style. Made from a unique 11.3oz cotton-linen denim, these jeans feature hand-dyed natural indigo and bengara shades, offering a soft, breathable fabric. With thoughtful details like a vintage button fly and hidden back pocket rivets, they embody timeless appeal while ensuring comfort and durability. The one-washed finish enhances the softness, making them an ideal choice for everyday wear or elevating casual outfits. From the brand: Originally developed by Kichinosuke Tonomura at the Kurashiki Honzome Handwoven Research Institute, this textile concept took roughly three years to fully realize. Hand-dyed cotton thread with all-natural bengara (Indian red) and indigo was rewound onto spools, with natural dyeing sometimes weakening the yarn. After extensive trial, wax was added to improve flexibility without compromising the integrity of the natural dyes. The denim is woven on a jacquard loom to reproduce the selvedge edge, with the main body produced on a shuttle loom—a time-consuming process that preserves a hand-woven texture. Cotton nep thread and thick linen thread are twisted into the weft, creating a soft, comfortable, airy fabric with elasticity despite being made entirely of natural materials. From dyeing the threads to weaving the fabric takes about half a year. Dyeing is based on the indigo color that was the foundation of domestic jeans, with the selvedge ID thread dyed in natural handmade bengara (Indian red). The sewing thread reproduces the color of threads used in 1960s jeans: a golden brown cotton warp over a strong span core, and an orange thread. With wear, the golden brown shifts to a beige-pink, and the orange becomes a bright, beautiful shade. This straight fit features an old-fashioned button fly, hidden back pocket rivets, and is one-washed for softness and reduced shrinkage. Straight fit – true to size.
