Weighing in at a virtually unnoticeable 13.4 ounces, the Swiftwater packs into tight spaces, so it's easy to fit into a backpack pocket or an upland hunting vest. The 2.5-layer shell fabric is constructed with tough, yet lightweight 3.7-oz. nylon with a waterproof membrane laminated to its interior. The half-layer is a mesh grid printed on the interior that protects the membrane from abrasion and wear. Though light in weight, the Swiftwater is fully seam-sealed to provide heavy-duty protection from the wettest of weather. During active, high-exertion use, breathability is just as important as waterproofness, since wet is wet, regardless of where the moisture comes from. The Swiftwater's waterproof membrane is full of microscopic pores that allow vapors and heat to escape, yet keep out rain and snow.
For further assurance that water stays on the outside, we used water-resistant AquaGuard® zippers from YKK®, the front with an interior storm flap and zipper garage to prevent neck-pinching. Built for comfort and convenience, the Swiftwater has plenty of room to add layers underneath in frigid weather, and boasts a two-way drawcord-adjustable hood to completely seal out wind and water. Velcro-adjustable cuffs provide a custom over bare wrists or heavy gloves. For ease of storage, the Swiftwater is so compact it can be stuffed into either of its two zippered pockets, or quickly rolled up into its hood.
