Step in from the warm Miami night and into the glow of Lincoln Road, where Wolfie’s once stood as a fixture of mid-century Miami Beach. Founded by Wilfred “Wolfie” Cohen, who arrived from the Catskills in the late 1930s, the restaurant grew into part of a wider group that came to define the city’s dining scene through the 1940s and 50s.
The pastrami sliced thick, matzo ball soup served hot and cheesecake cut generous. Breads, rolls, pickles and slaw set out freely, just as they should be. Open all night, it became known simply as the place where everyone meets to eat.
