From the brand: The Lot. 303 Coverall Jacket draws its inspiration from an unbranded American coverall discovered in a coal mine, dating back to the 1910s. After over a century, this utilitarian piece has been reimagined through T.T.’s fascination with rare vintage garments, adding it into Takahashi’s collection with a fresh perspective.
This season’s rendition features a revival of TWEEDUROY-- a corduroy that mimics the look of wool tweed. Originally developed by the Hockmeyer Company in Massachusetts, the fabric was first used for boys’ clothing and school uniforms, offering durability with the appearance of luxury, before eventually being adopted in adult garments.
Alongside this fabric story, the jacket incorporates hand drawn sumi elements. Inspired by the marbling works of Kamisoe, a traditional karakami workshop in Kyoto, the cotton fabric has been hand-painted with sumi ink by a Yuzen dyeing artisan. Each piece is completely unique, with subtle variations in brushstroke and shading that highlight the artistry of the process.
True to its workwear roots, the jacket also features iron buttons and engraved hardware, left uncoated so they develop an aged patina over time, enhancing the lived-in character.
