Product Description

This Lot.405 Atelier Coat merges 1940s American and British workwear aesthetics with modern tailoring. Crafted from Sumi Dyed Black herringbone nep tweed, the coat features subtle tonal shifts that echo Japanese design sensibilities. The alternative Black iteration utilizes Suffolk wool tweed, combining warmth and lightness for supreme comfort. Finished with Art Deco-style Bakelite buttons, it exemplifies a timeless blend of historical detail and contemporary refinement, making it a versatile addition for layering in any season. From the brand: The Lot.405 Atelier Coat brings together elements of 1940s American and British work coats, reconstructed with Taiga Takahashi’s eye for textile and proportion. Based on the earlier Lot.401 Engineer Coat, the design has been pared back—removing the belt and refining the sewing specs to better suit the fabrics. In Sumi Dyed Black, a herringbone nep tweed is dyed with sumi ink, leaving the pattern to appear only as subtle tonal shifts, a quiet nod to Japanese aesthetics. In Black, the coat is cut from Suffolk wool tweed, a material known for its natural springiness, warmth, and lightness. Both versions are finished with original Bakelite buttons engraved in an Art Deco style, underscoring the historical detail and archival spirit of the piece.
