This indigo fabric is a combination of diamond sashiko and gingham checks woven with three thread colors: indigo, light blue and kinari. Designed for summer wear, we've used the lowest possible gauge of thread in the weaving, keeping as fine a thread
count as possible so that it can be worn in all temperatures. Sashiko was originally a very thick fabric, and lightweight fabrics
were never really compatible with the weaving structure of sashiko, leaving 'lightweight sashiko' as only a thing of dreams until
now. This exciting new fabric is now made possible by using a special dyeing and weaving factory that has over 50 years of
experience in these difficult techniques.
