From the brand: The Story
Prior to the 1975–76 season a consortium of seven Maryland businessmen bought the troubled Memphis franchise for $1 million and relocated it to Baltimore, renaming it the Baltimore Claws. The team collapsed before the season started, playing only three exhibition games, all losses. It could have been worse, they did want to rename the franchise the Baltimore Hustlers...so there's that.
When the ABA and NBA merged in 1976 the glory of the Baltimore Claws was retired to the rafters of Basketballs past glory.
