DePaul returned Conference USA's Player of the Year in Quentin Richardson as well as his hometown running mates in Bobby Simmons and Lance Williams.
After going 21-11, including a loss in the Conference USA Tournament title game, DePaul earned the #9 seed in the East Region of the NCAA Tournament. Waiting for them was #8 seed Kansas. In an instant classic, Kansas outlast DePaul in OT, 81-77.
The loss ended the DePaul career Quentin Richardson who was selected 18th by Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA Draft.
