From the brand: Buco was originally the "Joseph Buegeleisen Co." in 1933, they were specialists in motorcycle accessories and saddlebags. In 1947, they launched "Buco", a full apparel line with the slogan: “Motorcycle jackets, gloves, caps, belts and bags all cut and sewn by life long craftsmen dedicated to the task at hand”. The Real McCoy's acquired the rights to the name; and have been building reproductions of the original products and modern classics under it for years.
Before the iconic image of the biker with the leather jacket was the biker in a jersey. In the pre-war years cotton jerseys became popular in motorcycle racing, with appliqué lettering. This jersey features a popular design of the era, a "turtlezip," with the zipper reaching all the way up to the top of the collar. When fully zipped, the collar became a turtleneck which provided additional protection from the wind while riding. But, when unzipped, funnel neck takes on the appearance of an open collar.
The Buco Half-Zip is made from a heavyweight yet soft cotton jersey. "Buco Products" is made from wool felt appliqué lettering faithful to the 1930s originals. The stainless steel zipper is custom, marked "McCoy."
