utilizes premium Banshu-ori fabrics from Nishiwaki City, in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. These textiles are made traditionally, woven and dyed using the same regional techniques originally developed in the 1700s. This antique production is slow and deliberate, overseen by a small team of highly specialized craftspeople continuing a centuries-long tradition of local textile creation.
The Rustic Jersey fabric is a lightweight 100% cotton knit that's perfect for hot weather or as a base layer. Despite the tight knit, the fine yarns have an airy finish that helps the whole thing breathe and drape especially well, with plenty of mechanic stretch (stretchiness that comes from the knit itself, rather than by introducing elastic or synthetic yarns).
The Athletic Shirt itself is really more of a tank top, with narrow shoulders and relaxed armholes. The collar sits low enough to wear discreetly below other garments, but not so low as look unusual when worn alone. The whole thing has been finished with lightweight flatlock seams, which are both
stretchier than single needle, and way more comfortable on the skin than an overlock seam (which leaves a protruding edge along the seam).
