Olde Homesteader
utilizes premium Banshu-ori fabrics from Nishiwaki City, in Hyogo Prefecture. These textiles are made traditionally, woven and dyed using the same regional techniques originally developed in the 1700s. This antique production is slow and deliberate, overseen by a small team of highly specialized craftspeople continuing a centuries-long tradition of local textile creation.
With a slightly relaxed fit, the Extra Cotton Rib Crewneck is shockingly comfortable thanks to its 100% cotton composition and robust rib-knit body. It's got an exaggerated shape, with dropped shoulders and long sleeves. The cuffs, hem, and collar are all made from the same knit as the body, rather than a different ribbing - the collar is particularly interesting, being a crewneck fit with a "flat" shape that tapers in width.
The knit has a medium thickness, pleasantly dense and hefty but not too hot. It drapes and moves easily thanks to the amount of mechanical stretch the knit provides - mechanical stretch comes from the construction of the knit and how much it can stretch, as opposed to compositional stretch that comes from using stretchy fibers. Being made from 100% cotton, there are no stretchy fibers.
These run slightly small - we suggest choosing one size larger than you regularly wear for a comfortable fit. Wash cold and dry flat.
