Product Description

Featuring an intricate brogue design and crafted from an array of deadstock C.F. Stead leathers, the 3989 Brogue Shoes combine history with contemporary flair. Made in the original Dr. Martens factory in England, these shoes utilize traditional goodyear welt construction and a DMS Smoke outsole for durability and comfort. With their unique colorblocked upper and classic silhouette, they elevate any outfit while ensuring a robust and stylish presence. From the brand: The Dr. Martens Made in England line is produced at the original factory in Wollaston, England, using premium materials and the same construction methods as your most cherished pairs of vintage docs. Every pair is built with a traditional goodyear welt, then given a heat-sealing treatment that bonds the sole and uppers further, before finishing with reinforcing welt stitches — resulting in a technically resoleable (though it is admittedly more challenging than other welted footwear as a result of the heat-sealing) and exceptionally durable pair of shoes. This run of 3989 Brogue Shoes is extra special, not just part of the made-in-England collection, but also designed with colorblocked uppers that use four different deadstock C.F. Stead leathers. They're a classic country shoe, with extensive brogueing throughout, a detail originally included to help shoes dry after tramping through wetlands. In fact, wearing shoes like these in the city would have been a major sartorial error in centuries past, and to this day, wingtips are not considered appropriate for formal wear by stuffy "fashion rules" types. This limited run is made from a combination of several deadstock leathers from C.F. Stead. The Charles F. Stead Tannery is based out of Leeds, England, with a company history stretching over 130 years — they specialize in producing some of the highest quality suede, roughout, and sheepskin leathers in the world. The 3989 Brogues make use of a combo of the tannery's Cavalier, Denver Veg Tan, Repello Calf, and Buck Suede leathers, with different coloration and paneling on each shoe. The trims are worthy of the construction and labor, with a wraparound upper construction, chunky silhouette, and an ornate medallion on the toe. They stand on the DMS Smoke outsole, with a horizontal line tread that offers solid durability, traction, and comfort - boasting oil, fat, acid, alkali, and petrol resistance on the bottom of every pair. The inside features a custom leather insole, and the uppers are held together with high SPI (stitches per-inch) tonal thread. True to size. Deadstock colorblocked C.F.
