(the brand) was born into a quiet rural life, taking inspiration from antique German tailoring and early proto-workwear. Produced in highly limited quantities, their garments are beautifully constructed, frequently making use of deadstock vintage textiles, with tailored silhouettes and unisex styling.
The Spring/Summer '25 collection takes inspiration from a variety of sources: the designer's artist friends, Buddhist concepts of spontaneity, and the turning of the weather as things get warmer. The cuts are breezy and relaxed, with drape and airflow prioritized for maximum comfort, and a really fantastic color palette that shows off the various fabrics.
The Gorsch Blouson is an oversized unisex jacket that emphasizes the body, featuring a small Harrington-style collar and fitted waist with pleating through the torso. The sleeves are relaxed and roomy, and the hand pockets are cut into the side seams for a more clean silhouette that sits easily and comfortably over other layers. When worn partially buttoned, the collar spreads out in a "dog ear" style, but can be buttoned fully closed for more coverage.
It's made from a 100% silk velvet with a rich indigo dye, that features extensive tonal variation and a very prominent luster. It's exceptionally soft, with a plush, dry texture and a very relaxed, fluid drape throughout. Immediately comfortable, it's lined with a smooth cotton/cupro blend for easy layering, with a cool hand that feels good on bare skin. Like other indigo garments, the dye will fade (albeit very, very gradually), developing a unique patina over time as the velvet wears down.
