The stud is made with fine silver which won't tarnish - a simple bath of warm, soapy water with a soft brush will suffice. Dry with a soft, lint free cloth. The copper layer will naturally oxidise creating a rich dark colour. When the object is cleaned, you may find the copper returning to a bright salmon colour, which will then begin to oxidise over time..
