Product Description

The Shōnan Shirt offers a stylish nod to the 1950s 'Sun Tribe' with its relaxed open-collar design. Crafted from 100% Japanese-woven, extra-heavy linen, this shirt is ideal for hot summer days or post-beach lounging. Featuring four buttons and two functional pockets, it combines comfort with effortless sophistication. Its unique dyeing process celebrates the natural texture of linen, ensuring each piece has its own character. Perfect for casual outings or laid-back gatherings, it's both versatile and timeless. From the brand: *This product is crafted exclusively for our Global Online Store and is not available in Japan. What is "Shōnan"? In the mid-1950s, disobedient Japanese teenagers from elite families in the Shōnan region became notorious for their freewheeling beach-bum lifestyles. With the 1956 debut of the controversial film, Season of the Sun, they became known as the “Sun Tribe” — and their signature fashion look of aloha shirts became the defining fashion trend of that era. As tribute to the Sun Tribe’s influence on Kamakura culture, we offer the Shōnan Shirt — a short-sleeved open-collar shirt in Japanese-woven, extra-heavy linen. The Shōnan Shirt is perfect for throwing on after a dip in the ocean or surviving a blazing hot summer day in the city. With some few changes, the Shōnan Shirt now features four buttons on the front and two pockets on the bottom of the shirt. Linen 100% Open Collar Made in Japan *We utilize thick linen and dye it to maintain its natural texture. You may notice some unsufficient dyed part and color shading across the fabric. For understanding, these areas are not defects but inherent characteristics of linen.
