From the brand: The armadillo buckle comes from a few different points of inspiration, based on certain elements of various buckles we have in our archive, all coming together to form this beaut. We developed our own custom mold with a partnering brass foundry here in the states, and churned out these solid brass buckles.
The armadillo holds a special place in our hearts because of its history in the music scene in Austin. Jim Franklin brought the armadillo to the forefront of pop-art and used it in a lot of the concert posters he made. As his art made its way into the psych-pop psych-rock scene, that psychedelic culture sort-of adopted the armadillo from Jim, and the folks behind the Vulcan Gas Company founded the Armadillo World Headquarters in the early 70s. The 'Dillo was where Willie Nelson first played to both hippies and rednecks, which was where Cosmic Country started.
This buckle means a lot to us, not just because it's an awesome piece, but because it really feels like a perfect representation of the inspiration behind the collection.
