This reproduction is based on the 1968 iteration, which marked a significant evolution in design and functionality. The fabric was upgraded to ripstop, an innovative material at the time, and the silhouette was updated with a lower rise and a switch to a zipper fly for improved practicality.
Ripstop fabric, known for its durability, features reinforcement threads woven in a grid pattern at intervals of 5–8 millimeters to prevent tears from spreading. Although the concept was developed during World War II as a lightweight, durable material for military use, ripstop fabric wasn’t widely implemented until the Vietnam War. Its first reported use was in 1967, paired with the ERDL camouflage pattern.
