From the brand: Part of our Project Sustainability® Collection, the John Ta’Ape Blue features an innovative eco-friendly material: locally-tanned ta’ape leather made from the invasive ta’ape fish species. Ta’ape fish have been invading Hawaiian waters and quickly diminishing the natural reef habitat and species. By sourcing 2,000 ta’ape fish from the island of Moloka’i, we’re helping to revitalize aquatic habitats with every pair of P448 Ta’Ape sneakers. Consciously designed, our iconic John is wrapped in white recycled leather with a recycled leather tongue and statement blue ta’ape leather heel tab. Blue recycled cotton laces tie the look together, while the black and white speckled recycled tread is kind on the planet with every step.
