Recycled cotton was only 1% of all cotton produced last year, so this garment is pretty special. Using recycled materials means new "virgin" materials aren't being used, and that's pretty awesome since fiber production has more than doubled from 2000 to 2023. Cotton is complicated, but organic cotton means no chemicals in water or harming workers who handle them. It usually means farms use better methods to promote soil health as well. Conventional cotton can contribute to water contamination, soil degradation, and/or pollution varying on product practices. Insert poor labor practices and things get grimy quick.
