Inspired by sweatshirts from the 30's-50's, the tiburon crewneck is cut from 15oz loopback cotton french terry and 1x1 rib. This high quality fabric was sourced from mills in Japan with a rich history dating back to the mid 19th century. The weight is perfect; not too heavy or too light, making it an ideal piece for year round wear.
To pay tribute to true vintage, our cuff and hem ribbing is cut at 3" high.
All seams are finished with merrow edge overlock and double needle coverstitching, to ensure long lasting wear and durability. Not one detail of this piece was overlooked. When it comes to vintage sweatshirts, flock printed collegiate crewnecks are some of our favorites. The lettering, crests, and fades make them some of the most distinguishable pieces in the vintage market. While most of these crewnecks typically lean into imagery surrounding athletics, such as team mascots, we thought it would be interesting to see what a crewneck like this would look like if it was customized by an art student. The Tiburon Crewneck features a base embroidery of a university crest, while the top embroidery features whimsical characters all in a simplified and bright color palette to contrast the more traditional details below them. The sweatshirt is finished with a vintage dye process to give it an authentic sun faded look and a tint to emulate garments in lighter colors that tend to yellow over time.
