From the brand: The Army Crew Jersey Mix is a sweatshirt with an asymmetrical design based on British military training wear – the right side of the garment is based on the 1930’s, and the left side is based on the 1940’s. Each part from the two different eras have been authentically reproduced, and then combined at the centre to create this unique piece.
The two vintage pieces that we used as our design base have the same fundamentals but differ in rib and texture. Both sleeve hems are different sizes, and the body hem is at a different level. Every texture is unique – one has a freedom sleeve and the other a set-in sleeve.
Since we used different designs from different eras, different sewing machines were used on each side: the 1930’s inspired right-hand side is sewn with a flat seam – originally made in the 1960’s, with characteristics of making a thin hem with minimal fabric, and the left-hand side is made using a 1940’s lock sewing machine. It is these carefully crafted details that make this piece special and distinctive.
