In the winter season, temperatures do not reach such extreme degrees compared to other regions within the Arctic Circle. This is due to the warm ocean currents coming from the Gulf of Mexico; which cross the North Atlantic and raise the coastal temperature of the islands by several degrees. During the summer you can see the phenomenon of the midnight sun (late May to June).
In appearance, Lofoten is an arctic landscape, but its image of a remote and extreme territory is not real, as it is an island with warm temperatures for the region. But the real magic of the islands appears at night with the wonderful aurora borealis from September, when the long polar night envelops the peninsula and the beams of light that play with their greenish, bluish and even pinkish tones impact any silent spectator who observes the beauty that nature gives us.
