From the brand: The DSS (Down Short Shell) is a faithful reproduction of the ski jacket produced by Rocky Mountain Featherbed in the 1970's featuring the distinctive RMFC single-piece leather yoke dyed with tannin and chrome. The tanin retains the leather's natural texture and the chrome gives it a durable finish. The shell and lining are constructed of an original 70 denier nylon taffeta which was reproduced after researching vintage nylon taffeta. It is a 3-layer fabric that is lightweight and has good heat-retention properties. The down vest is highly insulating and has a downfill made up of 90% down and 10% feathers with a high, 700 fill power. The down is sourced in Europe and is treated with a water-repellent finish. Normally, down loses its ability to retain heat when it gets wet, but by applying a water-repellent treatment to the down itself, it is able to maintains its ability to retain warmth even in bad weather.
