The famous Breitling Chronomat is an all purpose tool watch that has been redesigned and reimagined many times since its rerelease back in 1984. Inspired by the Frecce Tricolori watch originally designed for the Italian Air Force’s aerobatic fleet in 1983, the watch is instantly recognisable for its distinct Rouleaux bracelet and its rider tabs attached to the bezel. This time, Breitling chooses a highly scratch resistant blue ceramic insert for its unidirectional ratcheted bezel to compliment the deep blue colour of its dial, along with a specially moulded Rouleaux inspired blue rubber strap. The silver filled chronograph counters located at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock offer one 4th of a second, 30 minutes and 12 hours. The central chronograph second hand is also coated in a vibrant red, reaching out to the Chronomat’s hour track represented in lume filled baton indexes.
The legible hands of the Breitling Super Chronomat B01 44 watch are also coated in Super LumiNova and are propelled by the in house Breitling Manufacture Calibre 01 movement. This self winding engine displayed through a sapphire crystal glass caseback is capable of providing a useful 70 hour power reserve and beats at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The 200 meter water resistant Breitling Super Chronomat B01 44 watch is crafted from robust stainless steel and features a screw down crown with two gaskets, a cambered sapphire crystal glass front and prominent push pieces for effortless control over the Chronomat’s stopwatch functions.
